Carl Avery Ward, Sr.
Carl Avery Ward, Sr., 86, died March 18, 2024 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Ward was born to Curtis & Luma Ward on August 8, 1937 in Shelby, North Carolina and moved to Fort Pierce, Florida in 1957.
Carl retired from The Salvation Army as a Maintenance Engineer. He was a member of the St. Lucie County Fair Association and former member of the Jaycee Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a Fort Pierce Little League coach for Turner Machines & also served as their President and Vice President. He loved watching Westerns and was an avid collector of Budweiser Beer steins. One thing he looked forward to every morning was his cup of coffee at the Coffee Club at McDonalds with his friends. He was famous for his potato soup and his phrase “If your gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.”
Survivors include his son, Doug (Sheryl) Ward of Fort Pierce, FL; daughters, Audra (Eric) Macon of Fort Pierce, FL and Rozlyn (Jerry) Blanton of North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Dana Ward; brother, Donald Ward of Shelby, NC; sisters, Louise Lancaser of Shelby, NC and Grace Morrow of Williston, FL; grandchildren, Joseph Ward, Aubree Ward, Colton Macon, Lauren Macon, Ashely Ward, Heather Ward, Jared Ward, Joy Bowen; 5 great-grandchildren, Cody Bowen, Whyatt Alley, Morgan Tomlinson, Jamie Cole Tomlinson, and Stetson Ward. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Ward, son, Buddy Ward, brother, Emmett Ward, and sister, Lucille Norris.
Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 5:00-6:00 PM with a service at 6:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
