Bruce Alan Plante

May 12, 1941 — October 8, 2025

Port St. Lucie

Bruce Alan Plante passed away peacefully at home, with loving family by his side on October 8th at the age of 84.

Bruce Alan Plante was born on May 12, 1941, in Worcester, MA. He grew up in Auburn, MA and spent many summers on Cape Cod, MA. He is a graduate of Auburn High School. He lived in Bourne, MA until 2015, when he relocated to Florida’s Treasure Coast.

As a young man, he was well-known as a skilled and dedicated hockey player. He excelled as a goalie for Auburn High School and is remembered by his contemporaries in Auburn to this day. In college, he played goalie for Boston University’s hockey team.

He was an avid storyteller and captivated his family with tales of his escapades on Cape Cod with his twin brother Neil, his hockey playing years, Canadian hockey players, and fishing.

He worked for decades in textile sales and operations at Robinson Thread in Worcester, MA, and New Bedford Thread in New Bedford, MA.

Bruce had a life-changing experience after moving to Cape Cod in the 1980s. He became a devoted Christian and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pocasset. He faithfully served many years on the leadership team, helping with youth group and starting a Christian AA group. He was always willing to help those in need. Most importantly, he believed in the power of prayer, and he fervently prayed for family and friends. Even though he couldn’t carry a tune, he loved to sing worship songs. He didn’t care that he couldn’t sing because he was singing to his savior and friend Jesus.

It was during the 1980s that Bruce met Judy Ann Paolini, a multi-talented, godly woman and gifted teacher. They married in 1989, and enjoyed a strong, loving marriage for 25 years until Judy’s passing after a brief illness in 2014.

Bruce then was welcomed to Florida to live with his twin brother Neil and Karen Plante in Fort Pierce, FL.

He became an active member of Spirit Life Church of God. It was there he found love again in the arms of Karen Harris, a loving, caring, and gentle partner. They dedicated their love and commitment to each other in 2021. Bruce also appreciated the support and friendship of Karen’s daughter and family.

Bruce was a supportive and proud father to his two children Kristen Plante Clough, Dereck Plante and his stepsons Blaine Hutchens, Christopher Paolini, and Brian Paolini.

Bruce was extremely proud of his granddaughters, Ruth Plante and Abigail Clough, who are both attending Christian college to pursue nursing and education, respectively. He was also incredibly proud of his grandsons in high school, Alan Plante for his love of reading, studious nature, and love and commitment to music, and Stephen Clough for his love of fishing and natural athletic abilities. Most of all, Grampa Bruce wanted his grandkids to love Jesus, and they do.

In addition to Karen, he leaves behind Kristen and Tom Clough of Falmouth, MA, Dereck and Lea Plante of Mechanicsburg, PA, stepsons Blaine and Marie Hutchens of Charlton, MA, Christopher and Josie Paolini of Idaho Falls, ID, and Brian and Valerie Paolini of Albuquerque, NM.

He also leaves his twin brother Neil and Karen Plante of Fort Pierce, FL, nephew Mark and Deb Plante of Bourne, MA, and niece Michelle Sylvain and Todd Johnson of Orange, MA.
