Barbara D. Hill

Barbara D. Hill, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on September 15, 2026. She was 85 years old.

Barbara was born in Kaplan, Louisiana, on August 15, 1941, to Winnie and Advy Broussard. She attended Secretarial School in Beaumont, Texas, before marrying the love of her life, Donald Hill, on December 19, 1959.

Together, Barbara and Don built a life filled with family, adventure, and countless memories. With Don serving in the United States Air Force, the family traveled extensively, living in different places and embracing the experiences that came with each new chapter. Their love of travel continued well into their retirement, creating treasured memories that Barbara carried with her throughout her life.

During the Vietnam War era, while living in the Philippines, Barbara volunteered with the American Red Cross at the Air Force hospital. There, she offered care, kindness, and comfort to wounded service members. Her compassion and willingness to serve others reflected the caring spirit she brought to everything she did.

Barbara was also a passionate collector. Throughout her travels around the world, she gathered treasured pieces that filled her home and served as reminders of the places she had visited and the adventures she and Don shared. Each piece held a story and a special memory, and Barbara took great joy in preserving those stories for her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Hill; her parents, Winnie and Advy Broussard; and her brother, Lennis Broussard.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her three children, Donna Hill Ferguson and her husband, Paul, of North Wales, Pennsylvania; Cheryl Wright and her husband, Wayne, of Princeton, Florida; and Michael Hill and his wife, Deya, of Port St. Lucie, Florida. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Jason Hill, Lauren Ferguson, Eric Wright, Kevin Wright, and Lisa Wright; and her four great-grandchildren, Savannah Hill, Eli Montalvan, Sofie Hill, and Bryson Joell.

Barbara’s life was one of love, family, adventure, and treasured memories. Her family will carry those memories with them and continue to share the stories of a remarkable woman whose life touched so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a favorite charity in Barbara’s memory.

Visitation will be held on September 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Haisley Tribute Center, 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Florida 34984.

Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449.
