Anne Labate Stevens passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in her home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida on April 30, 2025.
Anne was born in Youngstown, Ohio, October 19, 1925. She was the youngest of three sisters born to Herman and Antonette Labate. She grew up in Smokey Hollow, a close knit community in Youngstown, with many Catholic Italian immigrants. She attended Saint Columba elementary school where she met her husband, Charles Stevens, who also lived in her neighborhood. She graduated from Rayen High School and eventually went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, earning her credentials from the Choffin Career Center.
Anne and Charles (Jeepers) married July 18, 1946. Charles, a decorated WW II veteran, passed away August 25, 2007, after 61 years of marriage. Anne is survived by her 5 children: Christine (Keller) Rohde of Atlanta, Georgia, Richard (Barbara) Stevens of Macedonia, Ohio, Marilyn Sims of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, Charles (Diane) Stevens of Surprise, Arizona, and John (Mary Ann) Stevens of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Anne was a caring daughter, a wonderful wife, a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, and the best great grandmother ever. She loved and was loved by many relatives, friends, neighbors and colleagues in her long life. She will be remembered warmly by all. Those of us left behind will have many fond memories to cherish as we grieve the loss of our family matriarch.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anne has now joined her sisters, Amy Catheline and Irma Yane, and her son-in-law, Thomas Sims.
