Alice Janet (Hosty) West, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Fort Pierce, FL. Born on August 21, 1939, in Everett, MA to Paul T. and Alice M. Hosty (both deceased). She attended Regis College in Weston, MA where she obtained her bachelor’s degree. Subsequently, she attended the University of NC Chapel Hill for a Specialist in Education. She relocated to Florida in the early 70s and eventually made Fort Pierce her permanent residence. She worked for St. Lucie County as a teacher and eventually an Administrator.
She was married to William H. West (deceased). She was the loving sister to Maureen R. Coveney (Thomas) of MA (deceased), Paula A. Andert (Timothy) of AZ (deceased), and Eileen M. Hughes (Wayne) of FL. She is survived by her nephew, Joe Glennon (Laura) and her grandchildren, Kayla and Colin Glennon of Port St. Lucie, FL, Her niece Michelle Sweeney (Michael) of MA, and nephews Paul Coveney (Sonia) of GA, Thomas Coveney (Briony) of MA (deceased). There are many other dear family members and loved ones.
Alice lived a life centered around faith, kindness, and caring for others. She dedicated many years of her life to teaching and touched countless lives through her compassion and generosity. She had a servant’s heart and was always putting others before herself. Whether helping family, friends, neighbors, or members of her community, Alice found joy in caring for those around her.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Alice was deeply involved in St. Anastasia Catholic Church and participated in many ministries throughout the years. Attending daily Mass brought her peace and comfort, and her church community meant so much to her.
Alice also loved spending time outdoors working in her yard, where she found happiness in caring for her flowers and surroundings. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
The family finds comfort in knowing Alice is now at peace and reunited with loved ones gone before her.
Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will forever be remembered with love.
A viewing will be held at Haisley Funeral Home on Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, FL on May 29, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with prayer service at 6:00 PM. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at St. Anastatia’s Church on South 33rd St. in Fort Pierce, FL on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL.
