Wayne Lawrence Diestler peacefully passed away in his sleep at age 86, at 6pm on February 27, in his 10th floor condo at 2021 Hutchinson Island, Florida. His wife, Yvonne Joyce Ditsch, preceded Wayne in death. Wayne was born Tarrytown, New York, to Theodore Diestler and Clara Fuerbringer on April 12, 1934. He grew up and attended school at Janesville, WI. He then served a short time in the Navy. He then went to St. Olaf Lutheran College in Minnesota for one year, then transferred and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, in Madison. He immediately went to work for Hooper Construction Corporation in Madison, and retired from there as the Vice President after 33 years, turning down to be President. As a professional engineer he managed many of his company’s major construction projects involving, for example: Milwaukee’s water treatment plant, Northern Mississippi dam, and the Dane County Sports and Entertainment Coliseum. He married Yvonne Joyce Ditsch, of Madison, WI, at the Bashford United Methodist Church in Madison, WI. He enjoyed many activities: hunting, fishing, golfing, tennis, trap shooting, and playing the accordion in HS. He was an active Christian Church member through out his life. He received recognition from the National Hole-In-One Golf Society, and was a registered Professional Engineer. He and his wife enjoyed their extensive travels to every continent and many countries. Wayne is survived by his children* and their spouses: Michael* and Valerie Starkweather, David* and Nancy Diestler, and Kari* and Michael Ganser. His Grandchildren: on the Starkweather side: Arion, Monica (Crowder), Jared (wife Vanessa), and Jerica; on the Diestler side: John and Amy; on the Ganser side: Christopher (wife Becky), Amy, and Adam. His Grandchildren: Taylor Blair (Ganser), and Alaina Crowder.
