Vivian Violet Brown

Vivian Violet Brown was born in East Chicago, Indiana on October 4, 1931. She married the love of her life, Robert L. Brown, in Gary, Indiana on June 23, 1956. Vivian died at the age of 89 in Vero Beach, FL on November 8, 2020 and at the time of her death was surrounded by family members.

Vivian is survived by her husband and best friend, Robert, their five children, Patty (Andy) Beard, Judy (Mark) Biss, Sharon Brown (Brian Singleton), Robert W. Brown, and Edward (Tami) Brown. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, her brother Bill (Sally) Orban, and her sister, Mary Ann Clark.

Vivian was a registered nurse for 33 years. She began nursing in Northern Indiana Children's Hospital caring for children with polio until she and Robert were married in 1956 and moved to Gary, Indiana. She had a special place in her heart for the polio stricken children she cared for and when reflecting back, always referred to them as her babies. She continued her work at Methodist Hospital in Gary. In 1963, she and Robert moved to Lakewood Park, FL and she began working at the old Fort Pierce Hospital on North 7th Street. After that, she worked as a private duty nurse for several years and finished her nursing career at Easter Manor Nursing Home when she retired in 1985.

Vivian was a devout Catholic and faithful member of Saint Helen's Catholic Church in Vero Beach, FL for many years. Loving and caring for her family meant the world to her. She was never too busy to spend time with her loved ones - her door was always open. She truly enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with Robert and together they made many delicious meals that her friends and family enjoyed. Vivian wrote the most beautiful letters - her handwriting was elegant and the messages inside were heartfelt and filled with sincerity. She and Robert were pen pals for three years while he was in the Air Force, exchanging many letters that sparked the beginning of their wonderful love story. Last but not least was her love of jigsaw puzzles. There was always a puzzle in the house and anyone was welcome to stop by and put in a piece or two. One of her great granddaughters affectionately calls her the Puzzle Queen.

Vivian's favorite charities were Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital, USO, and Hospice.

Vivian will be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL. Arrangements will be made at a later date.
