Tom Stirrat

Tom Stirrat, 80, died October 4, 2021 in Vero Beach, Florida.

Mr. Stirrat was born on May 27, 1941 to Howard & Mabel Stirrat in St. Louis, Missouri.

Tom was a retired Battalion Chief for the St. Lucie County Fire Department. He played baseball for the Twins and Cardinals, was a champion coach for the State of Florida Babe Ruth in 1987 and was in the Southwest Kiwanis Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of the National Guard and was involved with the mission recovery for hurricanes Betsy and Camille. He was an avid sports fan, artist, gardener, and avid stock trader. He enjoyed jogging, walking the beach, traveling, coloring, and most importantly watching the grandkids baseball games. He was affectionately known as “Big Shot”, “Slick” or “General Patton”.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia “Lee” Stirrat of Vero Beach, FL; daughter, Tommi (Doug) Brooks of Otto, NC; sons, Dane (Cindy) Stirrat of Acworth, GA, Kyle (Jamie) Stirrat of Stuart, FL, and Christian (Becky) Stirrat of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Tiffani (David), Danielle, Kaitlin, Matthew, Joey (Sarah), Thomas, Lindsay, Andrew, Maddox, Lily, Delaini, and Dakotah; great-grandchildren, Brantley, Parker, Cameron, Easton, Blake, Holden and Jerrah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Mabel Stirrat.

Services: Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2:00-3:00 PM with a service to follow at 3:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
