Reginald Alfred “Reggie” Wittey, 68, died April 6, 2019 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Wittey was born in Chicago, Illinois and resided in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Reggie was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves and was employed with Martin County Sheriff’s Department and then the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department until he retired, being awarded Deputy of the Year in 2001. He was also a dance instructor and DJ since 1993 and was known as the “Dancing Detective”. He was a member of the Merchant Marines and American Legion and in his free time loved boating and fishing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Lucie Sheriff PAL, 903 S. 21st Street, Fort Pierce, FL 34950.

Survivors include his sisters, Margaret Litfert of Okeechobee, FL, Louise Wittey of Okeechobee, FL; daughters, Kimberly Wittey of Jensen Beach, FL and Lisa Buehler of Stuart, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald Alfred, Sr. & Mary Jane Wittey.

Services: Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 4-6 PM with a service to follow at 6:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
