Theresa Marie Hornak, 90, died December 27, 2019, after a brief illness at the Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mrs. Hornak grew up in Whiting, Indiana and resided in Hammond, Indiana, until moving to Port St. Lucie, Florida in 1989. Theresa attended St. John the Baptist School and Whiting High School. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, an avid golfer, participating in the leagues at Wicker Park in Highland, Indiana and Island Pines in Fort Pierce, FL.

Theresa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to all. She will be remembered as a committed lottery player, who always believed that the big win was just a game away.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Hornak, brother, Jerry Germick and her parents, Michael and Emily Germick.

Paul Hornak, 93, died January 2, 2020 at the Port St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, FL. Mr. Hornak grew up in East Chicago, Indiana and resided in Hammond until retiring with Theresa to Port Sr. Lucie in 1989.

Paul attended Washington High School, was a World War II Veteran, serving as a Motor Machinist Mate 2/c aboard the USS LST 891 in the Asian Pacific Theater, participating in liberation of the Philippines during the war. Paul was a master carpenter, proudly belonging to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, local 599, Hammond, Indiana, for over 50 years. He taught at the Carpenters Apprentice School and was the first Building Trades Teacher at Highland High School, Highland, Indiana. A lifetime member of VFW Post 3029 and American Legion Post 428 in Hammond, Indiana. Paul also studied and became certified as a Master Gardner in the state of Florida in 1992 producing beautiful citrus and vegetables for family and friends. Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He was an avid golfer with a great sense of humor who enjoyed watching sports and enjoying his time with family and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife; Theresa Hornak; son, James Hornak; brothers, John, George, Martin; sisters, Anna, Christine and his parents, George and Anna Hornak.

Paul and Theresa were proudly married for over 71 years. They had a wonderful retirement and enjoyed their Florida home, which Paul built for them. They will be missed forever by their family, good friends and neighbors.

They are survived by their daughter and son in law, Paula and David Barancyk, of Port St. Lucie, FL.; granddaughter, Heather Hornak (James Richman) of Hammond, Indiana; great grandchildren; Maya, Jacob and the “two-fers,” Chloe and Jozie; Mr. Hornak’s sister, Bette Hmurovic of Norwalk, Connecticut and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A Visitation will be held to honor both Paul & Theresa Hornak on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 10:00-11:00AM with a Service starting at 11:00AM at Haisley Tribute Center, Port St. Lucie, FL. 34984.

There will be a Service scheduled at a later date in Indiana for both Paul & Theresa.
