Michael J. De Nigris Jr
September 29, 1946 — July 26, 2022
Michael Joseph De Nigris, Jr, 75, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away July 26, 2022. He was born on September 29, 1946 to Michael J. and Louise De Nigris in New York City. He married June Bay on August 13th, 2016.
Michael began his education at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School and graduated from Newtown High School, both in East Elmhurst, Queens. Following high school, he attended the Pratt Institute.
Michael served a tour of duty in Vietnam as part of the US Army, 92nd Aviation Company, Assault Helicopter Division as an aircraft commander in the “Huey” UH-1 helicopter bravely inserting troops into hostile landing zones and transporting them back out. He was awarded the Air Medal for bravery while participating in an aerial fight, and the Bronze Star with a “V” for valor for his participation in the defense of his air base during a ground assault. Michael continued his service as a Huey pilot in the Air National Guard when he returned home from the war at MacArthur Airport in Islip, NY.
Michael’s love for aviation continued for the rest of his life and touched those who admired him, having passed his passion on to his two sons and his grandson.
Michael was an accomplished musician, playing the saxophone like his father, and enjoyed playing various gigs with big bands. Later in life, he pursued a career in acting, starring in various independent films and plays, culminating with a speaking role in an episode of HBO’s “The Sopranos”.
Michael is survived by his wife, June; sons, Michael J De Nigris III and James R. De Nigris; his beloved grandchildren, Michael Jason, Julia and Corinne; as well as siblings, Denise Bracco, Valerie Carnemolla and Paul De Nigris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Louise De Nigris.
He will be missed especially by all those who gathered around him in life. His brother-in-law John Bracco, his beloved daughters-in-law Janine Knox De Nigris and Sheena Guide, Michael’s stepdaughter Janet Mangano and Rob Mangano together with their sons Dominic, Victor, and Angelo, Michael’s stepson John Wentz and his children Alexandria and Blake will forever hold him dearly in their hearts.
An American Hero and Aviator has flown west. Blue Skies forever to our dear husband, father, grandfather and brother.

A visitation will be held August 8, 2022 from 4PM to 8PM at the Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, FL 34984. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 10AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church 350 NW California Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986 at 10AM followed by burial at Rolling Oaks Cemetery
