Linda Lou Hetrick Velarde, 73, died September 7, 2019 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Linda Lou Hetrick Velarde was born on August 12th, 1946 in Newberry, Michigan to the parents of Denzil Hetrick and Margaret Davis. She moved to Fort Pierce in 1972 from Chicago, IL.
Linda graduated from Indian River Community College in June 1982 as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years at Sunrise Manor/Easter Manor Nursing Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Her work carried over to daily life where she thoroughly enjoyed caring for all those surrounding her; whether it was with her famous cooking or quilting that she had learned from her mother. Linda carried on her Mother’s tradition of sewing baby blankets comprised of knitted squares that can be found all across the U.S. She was a very loving and giving woman and was fondly called Grandma by many.
Linda is survived by five siblings, Donald, Ernie and Matthew Hetrick, Ann Lehto, and Celia Liddell; three Sons, John L. Velarde Jr of Oahu, HI, and Denzil T. Velarde and Antonio D. Velarde of Fort Pierce, FL; grandchildren, Kayla A. Velarde, John-Michael Velarde, Katelynn M. Velarde, Alexandra M. Velarde, Ryan N. Velarde, Hope A.A. Velarde and Faith A.R. Velarde, and Juan M. Velarde ; great-grandchild, Ronan Duran.
Services: A Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 3:30 PM with a service to follow at 4:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A reception will follow at the Haisley Reception Center.
