Lewis William Parker Jr.

Lewis William Parker Jr., 79, known to his family and friends as “Papa Lewie”, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019. He was born November 12, 1939, in Youngstown, Ohio. Loved by all, his positive attitude touched people's lives in both Youngstown, Ohio, and Florida. He was the son of Dorothy Calvin Parker and Lewis Parker, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Rosemary (Pitzulo) Parker and sister, Janet (Parker) Hart.
Lewis served his country as a member of the United States Army in the artillery unit stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After completing his tour with the Army, he returned home to Youngstown to marry the love of his life, Rosemary Pitzulo.
Lewis was Plant Manager at F.A. Pilgrim Company and then Louisiana Pacific, in Youngstown, Ohio where he managed and eventually retired in 2004. In addition, he consulted in building the Extrudex Corporation in North Jackson, Ohio. His knowledge in metal extrusions was extensive and served him well throughout his career.
Lewis had a profound love for family, outdoor activities, fishing, NASCAR, and his dogs; Capone, Maggie, and Sandie. He was a proud member of Harley Davidson’s “Band of Brotherhood” Club for over 20 years. He coached girl’s softball for over seven years at Boardman Park and lead his All-Star Team to many undefeated seasons. Lewis also coached his son’s Little League Baseball teams. He had a creative and innovative mind and was a successful Stock Car Driver; building cars from the frame up. Lewis was truly a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his brother, James Parker, children Karen (Donald) Komara of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Jodie Parker of Port St Lucie, Florida, and Bruce (Kristen) Parker of Green, Ohio. Lewis had six grandchildren: Donald Jr., Ann Parker, Katherine, Constance, Olivia, and Sydney; as well as a great-granddaughter, Penelope Rose and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a U.S. Military Burial Service on Friday, September 13, at 2:30 pm, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Military Cemetery in Seville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
