Joseph (Joe) William Zayac, Jr.
Fort Pierce, Florida

Joseph (Joe) William Zayac, Jr. passed away peacefully October 30, 2021 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. He was 64.

Joe was born in Nyack, NY to Mary Phillips Zayac and Joseph William Zayac Sr. on October 10, 1957. He was raised in Haverstraw, NY where he was an altar boy at St. Mary's Church and served daily 6am masses. Joe graduated from North Rockland High School in 1975. He met his wife and love of his life, Connie (Blenk), in chemistry class at St. Thomas Aquinas College, and they married in 1979. Joe and Connie raised their family in Pearl River, NY, and were active in St. Aedan’s parish. While raising his family, and working full-time, Joe earned his Master’s degree from Pace University. Joe coached CYO basketball and Pearl River Little League for many years. He was also a member of the Blauvelt Knights of Columbus, a eucharist minister, and ran the St Aedans' 300 Club. His loyalty and work ethic are exemplified by a 38 year career as a manager at AT&T throughout the New York and Chicago areas. In 2018, Joe and Connie retired to their happy place, Ocean Village in Fort Pierce, FL, where he was an avid golfer, treasurer of the Villas III HOA board, and did numerous other jobs to keep busy. He loved his family, bowling, the Yankees, and the Green Bay Packers.

In addition to his wife, Connie, Joe leaves behind and will be greatly missed by his three children: Helen (Stephen) Lamont of Bethesda, MD, Joseph (Meg) Zayac III of Tappan, NY, and Billy Zayac of Fort Pierce, FL; two brothers and brothers-in-law: Jimmy (Jim Schwarz) Zayac of San Rafael, CA, Tommy (Joanne) Zayac of Newton, NJ, and Douglas (Bob Mendel) Blenk of Fort Pierce, FL; nine grandchildren: Chase, Addy, Joseph (IV), Liam, Brice, Luke, Hudson, Vivi, and Sawyer; and one adoring puppy, Pumpkin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Joseph Zayac, and his sister, Mary An.

Joe will be remembered by his friends and family for being humble, selfless, hard-working, and having a chop-busting sense of humor. Joe was always there with a helping hand and a smile and never burdened others with his troubles. Many times, his patience, humor, and compassion helped others through tough situations.

A memorial mass will be held on March 26, 2022 at 9:00 AM at Marian Shrine in Stony Point, NY.
