John Ray Case

April 20, 1949 — November 30, 2018

John R Case, 69, passed away Friday, November 30th, with his wife by his side.

He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on April 20, 1949 and lived in Fort Pierce for the last 25 years. John retired in 2000 from the Merchant Marines as a Chief Engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Fort Pierce, and a brother, Dennis, Woodinville, WA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Barbara Case.

Throughout John’s life, the sea always called him - whether for work or pleasure. He and Marilyn enjoyed traveling throughout the Far East, Europe and the Caribbean and were active for years with their local Grady White Club. He also enjoyed offshore fishing and camping. They were active members of the Pelican Yacht Club.

Besides Marilyn, there are 4 little girls that were the love of John’s life. Fluffy & Tigerette (4- legged children) and Carli & Ellie, THE twins, who believed Uncle John hung the moon! From the moment they were born, their parents, Colene & David Israel, who lived next door allowed Uncle John & Aunt Marilyn to co-parent like none other. Since everyone else was employed, John fulfilled the Mr. Mom role by attending school activities, driving the girls to and fro, overseeing swimming lessons, participating in Easter Egg hunts, chaperoning birthday parties as well as 5th grade graduation events. If there was an activity the twins participated in, John was always there!

Suffice it to say, John made his mark on this world by helping to mold these baby girls into beautiful young women who, like their parents and his wife, are devastated by his departure from this earth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice 1201 SE Indian St Stuart,FL 34957 or the St. Lucie County Humane Society P O Box 14199 Fort Pierce, FL 34979.
