Iva Jeanne (Huss) Albritton

July 13, 1936 — May 11, 2020

Iva Jeanne (Huss) Albritton was born Monday, July 13th, 1936 in Lancaster, PA and died from respiratory distress preceded by multiple strokes on Monday, May 11, 2020. We are happy she got to celebrate her final Mother’s Day the previous day. The burial will be held at the South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL on Friday, May 15th at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held after the burial at the Haisley Funeral home in Ft, Pierce at 2:00 pm, followed by the Memorial service at 3:00 pm.

Mom and her family moved to Ft. Pierce while she was still a child and she has been a resident here for the remainder of her days. Her husband of 60 years, James (Bud) Roy Albritton, passed on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Raymond Huss Jr. and David Huss. Her mother was Dorothy Chew Sebring and her father was Raymond Huss, Sr. She is survived by four children, Jamie Vogel (Cooper City, FL), Gregory Albritton (Kerrville, TX), Richard Albritton (Seneca, SC) and Steven Albritton (Ft. Pierce, FL). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Whitney Vogel, Taylor (TJ) Vogel, Emily Vogel, Riley Albritton and Stephanie Bazzell.

Iva Jeanne Albritton graduated from the old Ft. Pierce High School and later became a well-respected employee of Lawnwood Medical Center (formerly Ft. Pierce Memorial) where she served in the medical record department and eventually became the director for a time. She later owned and operated a local ceramic shop in White City—one of her many hobbies. Iva Jeanne was an avid golfer and member of the Indian Hills Golf Club. Her other many talents included basketball and ping pong while in high school, painting, playing the piano, and she was known for her beautiful singing voice, even singing in the Mickie Mouse Club as a child.

Iva Jeanne Huss married James (Bud) Roy Albritton in 1957 and they were inseparably married for 60 years. Their retirement was highlighted by extensive travel, along with her brother David; they travelled throughout the United States to the National Parks, to visit family and also to watch their grandson TJ in his many junior and college golf tournaments. Their biggest golf thrill was attending the 2013 Master’s tournament in Augusta to watch TJ play as an amateur. She loved all her grandchildren deeply. Her many talents have been handed down to her children and grandchildren, especially, the athleticism and musical abilities. She led a full life, and enjoyed being with her family. In the end, she remarked that she was ready to go and be with Bud.

A gathering will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. Burial is taking place at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida.
