Iris M. Bowie

Iris M. Bowie, age 91, a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida and a longtime resident of Palm City, passed away Monday, December 30th.
She was born July 20, 1928 in Fort Pierce, Florida, the daughter of the late Florida Iris Totten McCullough and Walter Reynold McCullough. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas J. Bowie and son, Allan D. Bowie.
Iris began her career as a Bellsouth Telephone Operator, then worked with her husband at Monterey Flower Farm before opening Iris’s Child Care Center in Palm City, which she owned and operated for 16 years. After retirement, she decided to work part time at Armellini Trucking as a switchboard operator then as a Turnpike Toll Operator. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palm City for many years and currently attended Christ Fellowship. Iris was very grounded in her faith. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were the love of her life.
Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl (Brian) Purkey of Palm City, FL, Candace (Brian) Kiernan of Port St. Lucie, FL and Cynthia Bowie (Joe Sesta) of Palm City, FL; step-daughter, Donna Yawn of Williston, FL; sister, Mae Jean McMullian of Fort Pierce, FL; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

Iris will be laid to rest Thursday, January 9, 2019 at Haisley Funeral Home Tribute Center, Port St. Lucie.
Visitation from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 12:00 p.m. on January 9, 2020 at Haisley Tribute Center. Burial will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum. Stuart, FL.
