David Lee Evans, 63 of Okeechobee, FL was born on August 28, 1958 in Ft. Pierce, Florida to Mickey and Laura Maye Evans. He returned to Heaven on May 24, 2022. He was an avid fisherman and gardener from a very young age, helping his grandfather Earnest raise calves and grow oranges to feed the community of Dunklin Memorial Camp which his family founded. He graduated from Martin County High School in 1975 and attended the University of South Florida in Tampa and more importantly met and married the love of his life – Chicky Alvarez . They wed on New Year’s Day 1977, and were inseparable for the next 45 years. Together, they operated a successful custom cut meat processing business on Martin Grade and raised their amazing daughter Jennifer Lynn who in turn with the help of her husband Greg, gifted them with a precious grandson, Jackson Lee McGee who brought much joy to his grandpa’s life. David also worked as an Instrument and Control Specialist for Florida Power and Light for 14 years before being injured in a boating accident. Over his lifetime, he built two beautiful homes and some deep friendships, traveled to Belize, enjoyed diving, deep sea fishing, and growing exotic fruit trees. He gathered with the faith fellowship at Freedom Ranch. David braved cancer with a positive attitude and a relentless sense of humor. David was preceeded in death by his Grandparents Earnest and Stella Campbell, Lynn and Edna Beville , Father Mickey Evans, Nephew Christopher Evans, Father in Law Titi Alvarez, Sister in law, Nancy Evans. Aunts Christine and Corene Campbell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Chicky Evans; devoted daughter, Jennifer (Greg) McGee; delightful grandson, Jackson Lee McGee; mother, Laura Maye Evans; siblings, Clint Evans, Dean (Rosalia) Evans, LauraLee Evans Bryan; mother-in-law, Minnie Alvarez, sister-in-law, Julie (Delton) Lynch; niece Amanda (Frank) Seaton, and nephews Ira (Brandy) Evans and Zeke Bryan; cousins, Gwen Marsh and Betty Gordon.
