Christopher Columbus Wheeler

July 28, 1937 — July 7, 2020

Christopher Columbus Wheeler, 82, passed away July 7, 2020 at Waycross Hospital. He was a resident of Brantley County for the past 21 years. Mr. Wheeler was born and raised in Fort Pierce, FL where he retired from Graves Brothers after a lot of years working the groves. Chris had a kindness about him that made him loved by everyone he met. He was always telling stories about his life growing up or catching people with his witty jokes; to know him was to love him.

Chris was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ruben and Ada (Yates) Wheeler, two brothers, Johny Wheeler and Berince Wheeler and granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Cole Wheeler; sister, Sue (Wheeler) Gore and 2 brothers, Leon and Ervin Wheeler and 9 children, Charles “Buddy” Watson, Christopher “Kit” Wheeler, Christopher “Bull” (Kelly) Wheeler, Perry (Melissa) Wheeler, Crystal (Robert) Wheeler, Christina Wheeler, Ealy Wheeler, Renee (Jody) Cieutat , Kneadum (Pamela) Wheeler, along with 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and lots of loving family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Basinger Cemetery, Okeechobee, FL.
