Betty Lou (Hamlin) Piatt-Holding

Betty Lou Piatt-Holding (Hamlin) of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away on Good Friday, March 30, 2018 at the age of 91.

Betty was born to James & Lila Hamlin (Gunsaulas) in Massillon, OH on August 27, 1926.

Betty was a devout Christian, loved singing in the choir and was a member of Massillon Baptist Temple. She had a large and loving family and loved cooking and baking for them. Her interests in earlier years were horseback riding, gardening, canning, crocheting and camping. She was just about unbeatable in Scrabble and loved playing cards, reading and shopping.

She was the mother of six children, 3 step children, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Survivors include; her children, Mary Lou Carter of Port St. Lucie, FL; T. James Piatt of Old Lyme, CT; Frank S. Piatt of Port St. Lucie, FL.; step-daughter, Ladonna Lou Moore of Bethesda, OH; step-son, C. Richard Piatt of Akron, OH and sister, Ruth Schumacher of Massillon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald D. Piatt; sons, David E. Piatt and William D. Piatt; daughter, Dawn M. Gray; step-daughter, Janice Kay Moore; sisters and brothers.


A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, April 8th, 3:00-5:00 at Pineapple Jack’s Bistro, 1897 NE Jensen Beach Blvd, Jensen Beach, FL. For her Ohio family and friends, a celebration of life will be planned later in the year. The family is grateful for the condolences of friends and family.
