Beryl Elaine Stern Thomas

Beryl Elaine Stern Thomas, 73, was called home to the Lord on January 21,2021 in Vero Beach, Florida.

Beryl, affectionately known to her family and friends as Cherry, was born March 9, 1947 in Kingston, Jamaica to Andrew Stern and Louise Wood. She married the love of her life, Obie Thomas on April 10, 1986 in Miami Beach, Florida.

Beryl worked as a dental assistant in Jamaica for Operation Friendship. In the early 80’s, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and home health aide. Her career was helping people and taking care of the elderly and sick. Before her passing she worked at Palm Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation center in Vero Beach, Florida.

While Beryl enjoyed working, she also loved cooking, listening, and dancing to reggae music, talking on the telephone, watching soap operas, and spending time with her family. She took a special interest in talking to young people especially her nieces and nephews overseas.

She was a cheerful giver. Beryl gave to multiple charities, including; monthly donations to St. Jude’s Foundation, The March of Dimes, Daily Word publications and Daily Bread Ministries, as well as the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Beryl had a heart for her family, her community, and her friends. She was generous to anyone who needed help.

She is survived by husband of 34 years, Obie Thomas; three children, Alfred Lee, Joan Morgan, Marvin Thomas, and daughter-in-law, Andrea Thomas; sister, Winnifred Francis; three granddaughters, Heather Lee, Roxanne Carrion, Alyssa Jose Lee; one great grand-daughter; Robin Holloway; grandson-in-law, Xavier Holloway; nieces and nephews, Audrey Fisher, Pamela Bennett, Lorna Bennett, Sharon Bennett Lindo, Claudette Penn, Sandra Tomlinson, Sylvia Clark, David Walker, Desmond Bent, Nicholas Bent, Ricky Smalling, Patrick Francis, Desmond Francis, and many more nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Stern and mother, Louise Wood; brother, Walter and sisters, who were affectionately known as, Dolly and Girly.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 11AM to 12PM with a service to start at 12PM at the Haisley Tribute Center. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
