Barbara Anderson Pottorff

Born on the shores of Minnesota's Lake Gitchee-Gumee in 1925, she traveled to the sands of Gulfport, FL in 1944 to the beaches of Ft. Pierce in 1946. She always loved being near Lake Superior hunting & trapping and the ocean to be near the shrimp boats. After she and Melvin Pottorff eloped to Georgia, she resided in Ft. Pierce, working selling oranges/orange juice to the travelers at the Ft. Pierce Train Depot, packing fruit at the Indian River Terminal, waitressing at Simonsens Restaurant, bar-tending at the Rendezvous Bar and loving Ma Bell (for nearly 30 years as a Service Assistant). She married Melvin in 1946 until his death in 1974. From a small house on Second Street in Ft. Pierce Trailer Park (13 years), she settled in for trailer living at Ridgecrest Mobile Home Park (20 years), until the 'house' bug hit her again and she moved to White City in 1980. She maintained her independence and quiet lifestyle with a few close friends for over 45 years until God decided it was time to ease her pain. She always loved her Florida Gators and Tim Tebow, the Florida Indian Hobbyist Association, Boy Scout Camp Tanah Keeta in Jupiter, FL and her numerous furry friends over the years. Her long term membership in the Telephone Pioneers of America was a proud moment as was watching her son's Scouting achievements. She leaves her only son David & wife Tena of Ft. Pierce, 2 grandchildren - Chris (Jennifer) Pottorff of Ft. Pierce and Lisa (Tara) Davenport of Pt. St. Lucie, and 4 great grandchildren. Private services were conducted by Haisley Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Bridgers, officiating.
