Arthur Douglass “Doug” Salter Jr.

Arthur Douglass “Doug” Salter, Jr., 79, succumbing to cancer after a short but valiant battle, died March 29, 2021, at his home in Fort Pierce, FL surrounded by his loving family. Doug was a very young 79, filled to the brim with energy, dry wit, a great sense of humor, passion for politics, love of exercise including running (Baltimore Marathon) and biking, and a desire to spend his days boating and fishing (won Tuna category with 248 lb. Big Eye in 2009 White Marlin Open).

Mr. Salter was born in Albany, GA, raised in Savannah, GA, and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1965 as an avid Gamecock fan. He even named his dog “Cocky”.

Before moving to Florida, he was a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club, Kent Island Rotary Club, and Ducks Unlimited, among others. Mr. Salter’s business career was in medical device sales.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Karen Sheive Salter of Fort Pierce, FL; daughters, Lindsey Mohle of San Francisco, CA and Barbara Hope Hall of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Dr. Barbara Hubbard, and husband Carter Hubbard, Sr.; nephew, Carter Hubbard, Jr., his wife Margaret and their children, Clara and Carter III of Savannah, GA. How lucky we all were to have this wonderful man in our lives!
