Alexander "Al" Joseph Lemay

Alexander J. LeMay, 95, of Fort Pierce, Florida passed away on September 2, 2018 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Al was born on September 17, 1922 in Saint-Joseph-de-Coleraine, Quebec, Canada to Mr. and Mrs. Hercule and Demerise LeMay.

Al served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Oyster Bay in the South Pacific during World War II. He saw action in the Philippines and other battles. He spent his entire career keeping many people warm during the cold New England winters as an oil burner technician in the Manchester, Connecticut area.

Having retired in 1986, Al and Marion spent winters in Florida and moved to Fort Pierce in 2002. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling during his retirement in Florida. Bowling was his passion, playing in three leagues until last year when he had to quit due to illness.
Al was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Lucie Catholic Church in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, where he had many wonderful friends in the parish. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and American Legion Post 318.

Survivors include; daughter, Daryl (Dee) Maeyens, and husband, Al Maeyens of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; son, Dana A LeMay and wife, Marie of Manchester, CT; son, Dean LeMay and wife, Dorothy of Garner, NC; granddaughter, Dawn Denton of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl, grandsons, Jeffrey LeMay of Vancouver, Canada, and Thomas LeMay of East Hampton, CT; great-grandsons, Antonio D’Ambrosio and Dominick Seucheran, both of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; sisters, Florence Drouin of Windsor Locks, CT and Helen Hamel of Stafford Springs, CT; sisters-in-law, Lucille LeMay of South Windsor, CT, Lucy LeMay of Enfield, CT and Diane LeMay of East Windsor; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife Marion Comeau LeMay; parents, Hercule and Demerise LeMay; brothers, Gabriel, Marcel, Leo, Maurice, Roger, and Gerard; and sisters, Grace Donnelly and Doris Alberti.

Thank you to the staff at Palm Gardens of Port St. Lucie Rehabilitation Center for caring for Alexander since June 20, 2018 until August 31, 2018. Thank you to the wonderful team at Treasure Coast Hospice for the heartfelt care for the remainder of his days.
A special thank you to all of his wonderful friends at Tropical Isles Community, Fort Pierce for all the good times, especially to Sally Baron, Patty Campbell and Kathy Kornafeld.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice 5000 Dunn Road Fort Pierce, Florida 34981 in Al’s name.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5PM – 7PM at Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, Florida. A mass will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11AM at St. Lucie Catholic Church 2800 SW Prima Vista Blvd Port Saint Lucie, FL. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce, Florida.
