Albert William Hawke

October 21, 1939 — December 4, 2017

Albert William “Bill” Hawke, age 78, faithful servant and pure soul, successfully completed his earthly mission on December 4, 2017 and his spirit is finally soaring free of pain and illness as he heads home to his Lord and Savior. We know our Lord is rejoicing to welcome him and he is in awe and filled with wonder and joy. He’ll make ready the place for each of us as he always did here on earth.

Bill is survived his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret (Smith) Hawke; four daughters, Virginia "Ginger" Galloway Rutherford (Joel) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Cindy Lewis (Jim) of St. Augustine, Florida, Christina Donato (Vinnie) of Boca Raton, Florida, and Sandy Hawke (Julie Sontag) of Walnut Creek, California, as well as eleven loving grandchildren: Megan, John, Ryan, Nathan, Joseph, Molly, Julia, Grace, Abby, Kai, and Jory.

Bill was born on October 21, 1939 in Trenton, New Jersey to Daniel and Elizabeth (Kendall) Hawke. He graduated from Temple University’s School of Pharmacy in 1961 and married Margaret, his first and only love, in 1962. Bill worked at several community pharmacies and ultimately served as Director of Pharmacy in the large, urban hospital in which he was born. At age 45, he started training and successfully completed ten marathons over nine years including Boston. His commitment to always finishing the race was an inspiration to all who were blessed to know him.

Bill spent many happy early years in Stone Harbor and later in Beach Haven, New Jersey. He was an avid fantasy football participant. In 2014, he moved to Fort Pierce, Florida where he could often be seen biking or walking, always with a wave and a smile. He especially loved to dance and eagerly took over the dance floor with Margaret on his arm.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2pm at Ocean Village Aruba Clubhouse with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to
Treasure Coast Hospice.

The family would like to thank Legacy Private Care and especially Shavel Strachan and Carol Scott, who provided compassionate care throughout the entire last year of Bill’s life.
