William Paul Hamm, 85, of Newton, North Carolina died Monday, January 8th, 2018 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born November 17th, 1932, he was the son of the late Thomas Hamm and Garnett Yoder Hamm of West Palm Beach, FL. He was a member of St. Paul's Reformed Church in Newton.
Paul began working for Mizell, Favel, Zern Funeral Home in West Palm Beach as a teenager in World War II.
Subsequently, he opened William P. Hamm Funeral Home in 1964 in North Palm Beach. The following year, he was joined by partner Thomas L. Price where together they operated Hamm and Price Funeral Home until 1977.
After retiring and traveling the world, he came out of retirement and worked with IFDF member Haisley Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Fort Pierce for about a decade again before retiring to North Carolina.
He is survived by daughter, Mary K. Samuels and husband Allen of San Jose, CA; grandson, Aaron Samuels of Berkeley, CA; granddaughter, Rachel Samuels of Pacifica, CA; niece Marian Griffith of Auburn, GA; nephew Eric Hamm of Woodstock, GA; sister in law, Elizabeth Hamm of Atlanta; step-sons John Kirk of Greensboro and Greg Kirk of Ft. Pierce, FL; step-daughters Kim Puckett of Memphis, TN and Tammy Hazeltine of Fairlawn, OH.
His first wife of 46 years, Mary Williams Hamm, and second wife of 10 years, Donna Kirk Hamm, preceded him in death.
