Stephen Howard Smith passed away on May 31, 2017 in Fort Pierce, FL at the age of 70.
Steve is survived by his two daughters: Stefanie of Brooklyn, NY and Ashley of Fort Pierce, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Gyneth (Boveia) of Plainfield, Iowa; and three siblings, sister, Betty, and brothers, Ed and Lowell of Iowa.
Steve was born on August 7, 1946 in Waterloo, IA. He attended Wartburg College and the University of Iowa, where he obtained his teaching degree. He began his career in Jesup, IA before moving to Gilbertville, IA, where he taught and coached for many years at Don Bosco High School. He moved to Florida in 1984 to continue his career and remained there until his retirement from the St. Lucie County school system in 2008.
The family asks that any memorial donations be made in Stephen's name to Camp Courageous of Iowa www.campcourageous.org
A memorial will be held at a later date.
