Samuel Phillips (Phill) Rowe

May 24, 1933 — October 1, 2015

Dr. Samuel Phillips (Phill) Rowe was born on May 24, 1933 in White City, Florida. One of his grandfathers was Dr. Clyde Phillips Platts, St. Lucie County’s first physician; his other grandfather was Dr. Samuel S. Rowe, a dentist who practiced in Ft. Pierce. His father, Samuel Kimbrough Rowe, owned and operated a dental laboratory in Ft. Pierce. He attended local schools, graduating in 1951 from St. Lucie County High School. He married Sophia Jean R. Rowe on June 18, 1955. Dr. Rowe received his doctorate in dentistry in 1957 from the University of Louisville, graduating at the top of his class and receiving numerous academic honors. Following a two year dental internship at the Florida Correctional Institute in Starke, Florida, he returned to his home town of Ft. Pierce, opening his dental practice in September of 1959 and continued at the same location for fifty-six years. Dr. Rowe was greatly involved in organized dentistry, having served as president of the Tri-County Dental Association, president of the Atlantic Coast District Dental Association, as well as holding membership in the American College of Dentists and The International College of Dentists. He served as director of Citizens Federal Savings and Loan, was a past president of the White City Cemetery Association, and a past president of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. He was an Eagle Scout and a life long Rotarian.

Phill Rowe was an exemplary husband, father, and grandfather, greatly loved by his family. His faith in Christ shaped his entire life. He served several Presbyterian churches as Elder, and was currently Elder Emeritus at Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church in Ft. Pierce. Phill and his wife, Sophia Jean, enjoyed a sixty year marriage together.

His family misses him greatly, but we know he is with the Lord enjoying the fellowship of the redeemed.
