Richard A. Mitchell

December 24, 1938 — September 30, 2015

Richard Allen (Dick) Mitchell died on Wednesday, September 30th at his home on Hutchinson Island near Fort Pierce, Florida, he was 76 years old.

He leaves his wife of 56 years; Donna, his daughter Kathi (husband Robb), and his son Rick (wife Wendy). He loved his 8 grandchildren dearly. Alyson (husband Matt), Kyra, Nakita (husband Cody), Danielle, Sara, Pete, Claire, and John were a great source of joy in his life. Dick was born on December 24, 1938 in Huntington Indiana to Mark and Mary Lou. He is also survived by his brother Bill Mitchell (wife Nancy). He is preceded in death by his parents and his first born Martee.

Dick graduated from Manchester College in 1961 where he and Donna met and fell in love. He enjoyed a very successful career in banking beginning his career at the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions as a bank examiner. After a decade of distinguished service for the state, Dick was named President of the Bremen State Bank in Bremen Indiana and then spent his final decade in banking as the President of the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Rochester Indiana. He was a tremendous leader who was well respected and revered by his employees and the customers he served.

Dick was an avid fisherman and loved to spend his time on the lake, ocean, or pond; whichever he could drop a line in. He also loved to play golf and was a member of the varsity golf team at Manchester College and played into his later years. But mostly, Dick loved his family. He was a loyal husband, a tremendous father and proud grandfather. He had a quick sense of humor and spread smiles and laughter to all of the family and friends he touched.
