Ray Orville Sloan, 73, passed away on May 14, 2016 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Sloan was a lifelong resident of Fort Pierce, Florida.

He was retired from Fort Pierce Utilities and Piper Aircraft of Vero Beach. Ray was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. He was a Babe Ruth baseball coach in St. Lucie County for 3 years. He loved his family, the Florida Gators, and most of all serving his Lord Jesus.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Sloan of Fort Pierce, FL; children, Darryl Sloan and wife, Denise of Valdosta, GA, Angela Sloan of Fort Wayne, IN, Tina Sloan of Vero Beach, FL and Allison Hennessee and husband, Daniel of Chesapeake, VA; sisters, Lois Morgan of Fort Pierce, FL, Merle Warren of Ormond Beach, FL, and Rita Dobson of Fort Pierce, FL; brothers, Ford Sloan and Bryan Sloan of Fort Pierce, FL; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma McKee Sloan, father, Arthur Orville Sloan, brother, Dodge Cecil Sloan, sister, Iris Bruno, and granddaughter, Nicole Louise Sloan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Rule Academy K-12, 3891 Edwards Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.

Services: Service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.
