Marjory Franzen Ash

January 4, 1922 — February 14, 2017

Marjory Franzen Ash, cherished wife of Charles Joseph Ash and beloved mother of six daughters completed her Life Journey on February 14, Valentine’s Day, 2017, surrounded by her loving
family. She enjoyed 95 full years of life.

Marjory was born January of 1922 in Springfield, Ohio, the second child of John Peter Franzen and Estella Mae Cordes. She was their only daughter among three sons. Her family moved to South Florida in 1931. She was a very bright young woman and graduated valedictorian from St. Theresa High School in Coral Gables, Florida. Marge worked for the phone company during World War II. She met Charlie, who was a civilian employee with Eastern Airlines during the war, by her brother and married him in 1943. Their first daughter, Winifred, was born in Miami. Charlie and Marge moved to Fort Pierce in 1945 where the rest of their six daughters were born.

She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church and a charter member of St. Mark Catholic Church. Marjory was a full-time mother until she went to work for Major Electric Supply as a bookkeeper. She was a Clerk of the Court for St. Lucie County, completing her employment career with the Fort Pierce/St. Lucie County Fire District.

Marjory was a past president of the St. Anastasia Catholic Women’s Club, an Auxiliary member at Martin Health System earning over 2000 hours, 4-H leader, a Eucharist Minister and Lector at St. Mark and St. Joseph Catholic Churches, a volunteer at several St. Lucie School District elementary schools and offices, and volunteered at Carpenter’s Kitchen of St. Joseph’s.

Perhaps Marjory’s greatest achievements in her life, in partnership with her husband Charles, were the sense of responsibility, work ethic and strong familial bonds they instilled in their daughters. The bonds were of love but they are mighty.

Marjory was predeceased by her husband, Charles, her brothers Eugene Franzen and Jack Franzen and her son-in-law Paul Young. She is survived by her brother William Franzen of Pitsford, New York, her sister-in-law Joan Franzen, her daughters and their spouses Winifred and George Johnson of Port St. Lucie, Barbara and Ron Bush of Stuart, Margaret (Peggy) Ash of Fort Pierce, Mary Young of Stuart , Marjory and Don Pierce of Port St. Lucie and Dorothy and Tom Dicks of Stuart. She is also survived by her grand, great grand and great great grandchildren: Melanie Lounsberry Giorno, Sharon Johnson Newsom, Claire Pierce, Emily Pierce, Charles Ash Pierce, Sara Cicarelli, Alexis Bouton, Donald Stickens, Michael Humphrey, Cole Giorno, Joseph Vigiotto and Anthony Bouton as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her family wishes to thank Dr. Alan Collin and Dr. Paul Swanson for the kind and gentle care they gave her over the years. As well, the aides, nurses and especially her dining table mates at the Stuart Lodge, and all the friends of her daughters who loved Marge almost as much as we do. There are too many "honorary daughters" to mention but you know who you are.

In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made to the St. Anastasia School Endowment Fund or St. Joseph Catholic School.
