Gloria Marple Meuser

February 4, 1928 — October 24, 2017

Gloria Marple Meuser was born February 4, 1928 in Miami Springs, Florida. She was a graduate of Miami Senior High School and in 1950 completed training in Bookkeeping Course; while employed as bookkeeper for Marple Electrical Repairs and General Electric Representatives and Sales.

Her spiritual interest was encouraged by her grandmother, who faithfully took her to the Central Baptist Church in Miami. After her grandmother’s death, Gloria was introduced to the Lutheran Church by a care committee trying to develop the Lutheran church in her area. The intern who became a member of her father’s basketball team in the city, prompted his concern for the young people were involved with the sport, inviting all to come and visit his beginning church in the community; which they did and found it to their liking. Gloria and her sister decided they wanted to confirm and so at the age of 21 she was received into the Lutheran Church and baptized by the Reverend Doctor Edwin Meuser and Albert Schmidt. She served as Financial Secretary, choir member, Evangelism Committee member, Sunday School Teacher, communion assistant, usher, and soloist.

In May 1952, she left home and friends travelling to New Guinea to marry William Meuser. She served as wife, bookkeeper, Sunday School Teacher, arranged mission vacationing for Mission families, trained native help, taught sewing, cooking, ironing, cleaning, and planned programs for young people; while serving on the ALC Mission field for 16 years.

In 1969, the family left New Guinea, due to one of her children’s very sick health; returning to North Miami. Here she settled and became a member of the Christ Lutheran Church. She served as Secretary to Reverend Gus Warnski for 3 years; also assisting Rev. H. Uhl’s secretary. She became newsletter Editor and served with her husband as homebound communion members; she was a door greeter, usher and member of ALC Women’s Works.

She became a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in November 1991, where she was a usher, door greeter, member of Hope Circle, and ALC Women. Two daughters in the area kept her life filled serving as advisor, sister, and other duties. Gloria was also a member of Women’s Missionary Federation.

She is survived by her husband, William Meuser; sister, Marilyn Roebling; 4 daughters; 1 son; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a quiet, peaceful, loving person; who loved serving the Lord and friends. She was strongly dedicated to her family.

A service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2:30 PM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 295 SW Prima Vista Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34983.
