Florentina “Tina” Venezia, 68, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away Saturday August 29, 2015 in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Mrs. Venezia was born in London, England, she moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida in 2003 coming from Brooklyn, New York.
Tina and I met a little over 51 years ago in 1964, a few days before her 17th Birthday. She was born in London, England, lived in Trinidad from age 3 until 8 and then moved to Brooklyn, where I had the great fortune to meet her. We have been in love for over 50 years and we celebrated our 48th Wedding Anniversary in the Martin Memorial Hospital in July. It was a strange sequence of events that allowed us to find each other, great luck as I see it, so I will not complain about our bad luck of being separated way too soon. I will love her until the day I die, as will many of you.
Tina's main focus was family and friends, and their happiness. She spent hours each year sending out Christmas cards with envelopes stuffed with jokes tailored to the recipient's individual taste, and birthdays all year got the same treatment. She loved to take and share photos online and through snail mail, and even became a political buff as a member of the Democratic Club of Saint Lucie County.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Freddie Venezia, Sr. of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; son Freddie Venezia, Jr. and daughter in law, Suzy Venezia both of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; grandchildren, Brooklyn Venezia, Jimmy, Nicole, Michael; great grandchildren, Ayana and Eve-Alyse; brothers, Bertram Simmons of Orlando, Florida and Ventura Simmons of Teaneck, New Jersey; sister Corine Sparks of Brooklyn, New York. She is preceded in death by her parents, Renico and Alice Simmons and her brother, Renico Simmons.
Visitations will be held on Friday September 4, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, as well as Saturday September 5, 2015 from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd, Port Saint Lucie, Fl 34984.
