Earle T. Field, Jr.

June 18, 1925 — January 6, 2017

Earle T. Field, Jr. passed away on the morning of January 6th, 2017.

Earle was born in 1925 in Sanford, Florida, travelling across the state with his family before finally settling in Fort Pierce. He grew up with his brother Jimmy and eventually his adopted sister Marilyn. Earle attended Fort Pierce High School, participating in the Band as a Clarinet player.

Earle enlisted in the United States Marines in September of 1943, serving his country in World War II as a Radar Operator for the 16th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, 3rd Marine Amphibious Corps, in the Pacific Theater in the Battle of Okinawa. He was honorably discharged from the Marines as a Corporal in February of 1946.

Upon his discharge, Earle would remain in Fort Pierce where he would marry his wife Theresa Vachon. After attending Georgia Tech, Earle would work in retail sales for the McCrory Department Stores as well as the A. Vachon Groves gift fruit company. He and his wife would also go on to own their own businesses including Tomorrow’s Heirlooms, a quilting store many still remember today. Earle was also a lifelong member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Earle is survived by his widow of 66 years, Theresa Field of Fort Pierce, FL; his daughters, Linda Parrish of Fort Pierce, FL and Rose Earleen Wilkening of Gainesville, FL, and his son, Daniel Field of Fort Pierce, FL; surviving grandchildren are Jamie Wilkening, Patrick Wilkening, Steve Wilkening, Eric Wilkening, Melinda Gwilt, and Jacob Field; and nine surviving great-grandchildren.

Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5-7 PM with a Wake Service at 6:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
