Deborah Elaine Brown

June 24, 1955 — February 17, 2017

Deborah Elaine Brown was born in Paris, KY to the parents Lloyd and Ruth Joanne (Ambrose) Brown. Deborah attended and graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in Berkeley Springs, WV. After graduation Deborah joined the US Army and was stationed in Hawaii. While serving in the Army Deborah was named a Marksman and Ordinance Specialist.

Deborah welcomed her one and only child Kira Drucelle Elizabeth Brown to her life while living in Hawaii. Kira is and was Deborah’s greatest source of pride and joy. Deborah was quick to say that Kira Brown was the best thing that she ever accomplished.

At the end of her military service Deborah and Kira returned to their home in West Virginia and settled in Martinsburg. While living in Martinsburg Deborah attended Hagerstown Community College in Hagerstown, MD. Deborah earned her Associates of Science in Paralegal Studies, was inducted into the National Honor Society and became a member of Phi Theta Kappa in recognition of her academic achievements.

Deborah was a lover of antiques and this led to her working for several collectors over the years. She was also an avid gardener and her passion led to an accidental business of supplying local restaurants with seasonal herbs from her home garden as well as tending plants in various public facilities and restaurants.

Deborah relocated to Florida where she met and married her devoted husband Glenn Sherman Gober. During her life in Florida Deborah continued her lifelong love of antiques and gardening. It was not unusual for her to pull over on the side of the road if she spotted a piece of treasure. She also designed and built gardens and ponds for the enjoyment of all those who had the pleasure to spend time in her home. Deborah was also a masterful cook and enjoyed sharing her talents with friends and family.

Her loving memory will be cherished by her family, her adopted family, a host of friends, her beloved mother, Ruth Joanne Michael of Martinsburg, WV, husband Glenn Sherman Gober, daughter Kira D.E. Brown, sister Sandra (Dennis) Schlabach of Mill City, OR, Laura Rankin of Martinsburg, WV, brother Robert Brown of Tacoma, WA, and nephews Eric Goodspeed of Mill City, OR and Anthony “Tony” Gonzalez of Martinsburg, WV. Deborah was predeceased by her
father Lloyd Brown and sister-in-law Connie Brown.
