Betty Jane Farley Lounds

Betty Jane Farley Lounds, 95, died February 1, 2016 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Miss Betty was a resident of Fort Pierce for 54 years after moving from Winter Haven, Florida.

Miss Betty worked as a cafeteria cook for the Winter Haven schools, and upon moving to Fort Pierce, was a catalog phone sales clerk for Sears & Roebuck Company a store clerk at LaPetite-Hallmark Card Shop, Ebbtide Craft Shop and Adkins Jewelers. In 1983, she and her late husband, Albert, established Lounds Nursery, Inc. a local wholesale plant nursery and after retiring, spent many blissful years as part time residents of Roan Mountain, Tennessee.

Miss Betty was a member of White City United Methodist Church and later Orange Avenue Baptist Church. Her faith in Jesus Christ was a driving force in her life and she loved to share the message of God’s grace with anyone she encountered.

She loved to can vegetables, jellies, jams and preserves, garden and was famous for her banana bread and tongue-in-cheek jokes. Once you became friends with Miss Betty, you had a friend for life and she ministered to others through cards and letters sent to friends far and wide.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Albert “Edward” Lounds, III and Amy; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Victor Beaty; grandchildren David Lounds and wife Kelly; Christopher Lounds; Bryan Beaty; Kathryn Beaty Ivey and husband Michael Ivey; and great-grandchildren Cody Lounds, Tori Lounds, Dakota Noll, Cheynne Noll, Lindsey Farmer and James Lounds all of Fort Pierce. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Edward Lounds, Jr. and parents, Ralph Farley and Gertrude Farley.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. February 5. A service will be February 6 at 10 a.m. at Haisley Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Haisley Funeral and Cremation Service. A guest book maybe signed at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com .
